A day trip to Maruyama peak of Mt. Nishihodaka from Hida-Takayama
A day trip to the peak of Nishiho-Maruyama, using Shinhotaka Ropeway.
This is a trekking tour of 5 km/ 3.1 miles, reaching the Japanese mountain lodge and going a little bit above to view the 360 degree view of the northern Japanese alpes and to look down the famous Kamikochi.
Hiking from the Shinhotaka Ropeway, Nishihotakaguchi Station at about 2,156 m or 7074 ft to Nishihosanso mountain lodge is a relatively gentle forested walk for experiences hikers and a little bit challenging trekking for beginners. After the 1.5 hour of trekking, you will be surprised to see a big mountain lodge where you can enjoy your lunch.
Beyond the lodge, the terrain becomes more rugged and exposed, following a rocky ridgeline with sections of scrambling over boulders and narrow paths that require careful footing. The climb to Nishiho-Maruyama peak (2,452 m or 8045 ft) offers dramatic panoramic views of the Hotaka mountain range and surrounding peaks, making it a challenging but highly rewarding high-mountain experience.

10:00 AM Start hiking (Nishihotakaguchi Station)
11:30 PM Nishihosanso Lodge / Nishiho-Maruyama peak
12:30 PM lunch
02:30 PM Back to Nishihotakaguchi Station
03:30 PM Tour finish at Shinhotaka Ropeway, Shirakabadaira Station
